Lokman Hekim Health Foundation (LHSV) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, which strongly believes that every human being is entitled to benefit from good quality and modern health services. In 1986, a group of young and dedicated physicians founded LHSV to ensure that under- privileged communities can exercise this unalienable basic human right .

LHSV has provided medical care for approximately 240.000 people since July 1987. A third of this people have benefited from medical services for free or for a negligible fee. The minimum contribution for a physical examination is 1,5 USD. LHSV distributes illness certificates to people who can not even afford this service. Very needy people can have physical examinations or receive medical care for a symbolic fee of 0,5 USD and can benefit from a 70 percent discount for laboratory tests and other treatments that require the use of sophisticated medical equipment.

Since October 1989, LHSV collects waste paper, soda cans, plastic bags and used printer cartridges. 12 employees specifically hired for this operation collect approximately 100 tons of waste and waste paper per month. The revenue of this activity is used in financing our medical services. LHSV is the only non-profit organization in Turkey that collects recyclable waste for eleven years.
